Just a few years ago, Motorola had the hottest phone (the RAZR) and everything went well for them. Unfortunately they never followed the RAZR with another industry-leading phone, and subsequently they suffered a gradual decline in their fortune. Just as the Pre is the comeback phone for Palm, the Cliq may well be the comeback phone for Motorola.

iPhone OS 3.1 brought a few cool new features to the iPhone and iPod touch, including App Genius and the ability to manage your device screen from iTunes 9. However, we’ve also heard reports of the instability of 3.1. Apple has released iPhone OS 3.1.2, which addresses several issues including problems waking from sleep, network service disruption and crashing during video streaming.

RIM is a veteran of the smartphone wars, with the BlackBerry being around for more than a decade already. The BlackBerry has always been seen as the “businessman’s smartphone”, often seen in the hands of a high-powered corporate executive. A new trend which I have just noticed is that now, the youngsters are also being targeted as potential BlackBerry users.
