Save the date : Wednesday 27th January. Exactly one week from now, Apple is holding an event to launch or announce … something. Since Apple is not in Macworld this year, they didn’t have to rush things out so early in the year. So what will we see next week?

The folks at Palm have kept busy over the holiday period. At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), they have unveiled :
- new smartphones (Palm Pixi Plus and Palm Pre Plus)
- new apps and software features (video capture and editing, Flash 10.1)
- new carriers / mobile operators (Verizon in the US and SFR in France)
- Palm developer program now official, moving out of beta
- 3D games on webOS

What a year 2009 has been. We’ve seen Google enter the mobile market in a big way with Android, we’ve seen Apple’s amazing success with the iPhone continue, and we’ve seen RIM’s Blackberry strengthening its brand with the youth.
2010 should be another interesting year in Mobility. Early next month we’ll see faster, cheaper netbooks, a new Google Phone (Nexus One) and maybe the mythical Apple Tablet (or iGuide, or iSlate). And that’s just January.
