1 million iPads sold in 28 days
It was just a couple of months ago when pundits and analysts were predicting just how many iPads would be sold in the first year. The numbers ranged between 1 and 6 million.
Now Apple has announced that it sold 1 million iPads in the first 28 days. Jim Goldman from CNBC says : “iPad reached the sales milestone far quicker than the company’s iPhone, which took nearly three months to sell 1 million units.” Not bad for a new product (and new product category, if you believe Apple).
Now that Apple has officially shipped the WiFi+3G version of the iPad, the numbers should be looking even better. International iPad buyers will have to wait a little while longer, until the end of May, for the WiFi and WiFi+3G iPads.
Demand seems to be strong for the iPad. Locally (in Malaysia), grey market iPads are selling for as much as US$875. That’s a hefty $375 premium over the $499 selling price of the entry level iPad.
