Comparing different Treo cameras

Palm Treo smartphones will probably never get the better cameras you typically find on Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones, but for general use, they do the job.  Jay Gross of TreoCentral has done a comparison on the different cameras available on current Treos.  He looks at the cameras on the Treo 650, Treo 700p and Treo 700w.  Surprisingly, the Treo 650′s camera performs the best, even though it has a lower resolution compared to its younger brothers.

New low-end Treo on the way

Palm announced their latest financial results yesterday, and during the conference call Palm CEO Ed Colligan confirmed that “in the coming weeks” they will provide more information about an entry-level, lower cost smartphone. The new device is expected to have specifications close to the Treo 650, but with more RAM. The rumoured model for the new Treo is the Treo 680.

Vodafone Palm Treo 750v

Apple introduced updates to its entire iPod line today, but us Treo-people are still buzzing about the new Windows Mobile Vodafone Treo 750v.  Both Treocentral and Treonauts have published hands-on previews of the new smartphone.  So far the impressions are mostly positive, with thumbs-up for the slimmer, lighter form factor. Some new details :
- the Treo 750v shares the rubberized paint of the Black Tie Treo 650, which means it provides a better grip
- it has a slimmer, lower capacity battery (1200 mAh)
- it uses a 300MHz Samsung chip (not a 312MHz Intel processor), which offers better power consumption
