At work, I meet a lot of new people every week. Even in this age of Facebook and LinkedIn profiles, it’s still a standard practice to exchange business cards. While I have over 2,000 contacts in my iPhone, I still have several hundred which I have not saved and entered into the Address Book / Contact list.

It’s a relatively quiet period for the mobile world. CTIA in Las Vegas is over, with few major announcements. We are still waiting for the Palm Pre to come out, and right now iPhone speculations are in overdrive. We won’t know for sure about the next generation iPhone until at least Apple’s World Wide Developer’s Conference (WWDC) in June. In the meantime, we have heard rumours of faster wireless (802.11n, maybe HSPA), Macbook-style unibody casing, better camera (3 or 5 megapixels) and more memory (32GB).

It’s an interesting time for Apple. They’ve sold over 30 million units of the iPhone and iPod touch combined. They have also had 800 million applications downloaded from the App Store. This is mighty impressive considering the entire iPhone/touch platform is only about 2 years old. Lately several challengers have emerged, the most compelling of which is Palm’s Pre with their webOS. Well, Apple hasn’t sat still. Yesterday, they had a preview of their latest iPhone 3.0 software. And yes, they did answer (almost) all prayers.
